Its appearance

It owes its name to its T shape, collarless and initially short-sleeved.

Its appearance and origin is disputed. On the one hand it is said to be the emblematic American garment borrowed from American soldiers of the United States Navy and sailors of the Royal Navy. On the other hand, it is also said to have been borrowed by American troops (again!) who made as their own the undershirts of the European soldiers during the First World War. 

The t-shirt became an "above" garment in 1930 thanks to the sports and film sectors. It then became almost universal when, in 1943, the G.I. landed in Europe. In the 1950s, it was considered to be the casual clothing of reference thanks to the film "Rebel Without a Cause" by James Dean.

A few years later, it became a real vector and material of communication.

The Trend

With a curved cut and close to the body, for men, it gradually widened in the 1980s with the development of Hip-Hop. On the contrary, women's models are becoming shorter and shorter, revealing their navel. There's something for every taste, isn't there?

The t-shirt has the particularity to be worn by all generations, distinguishing itself only by the cut and the colors. 

In recent years, the ecological trend has also taken over this market. Production techniques are evolving and the materials used for manufacturing are diversifying.
